K'NEX Creative Challenges

There are a number of different tasks the school can choose from such as 'Build something that could fly'. We discuss possible subjects e.g. plane, bird, ladybird, fly etc. The students work in pairs and start by sketching their subject and then building it using K'nex. The students are encouraged to be creative, imaginative and use their problem solving abilities to create a three dimensional model with special features. At the end each pair make a presentation to their class describing their model and its features. Then, unfortunately, the models are broken up. If the school have a theme, say it is Science week we can use that. Other themes used include, make a flower that grows, make a hot air balloon, make Famous Structures, make Windmills, make 2D shapes, make 3D shapes or make something that uses gears to move.
